Tiny Bathroom Update

Living with a tiny bathroom is a challenge. It has to be both functional and cute, and with a budget, that’s a little tricky.

Luckily, I was able to update and organize my bathroom for about $65! It’s still just as small, but a few well-chosen updates have given it a fresh feeling, and the color scheme and absence of the unnecessary items I’ve tossed out make it feel a little bigger and brighter.

Before bringing more stuff into my tiny space, I had to get rid of some of the clutter. I started by cleaning out the medicine cabinet and the one (very messy) drawer in the vanity. Anything that wasn’t in regular use or that was duplicate either got tossed, donated, or stored under the sink until it’s needed.

I also went through the many eyeshadows, palettes, lipsticks, and other makeup sitting on my vanity to toss what I longer use and what was expired, and I ordered a palette organizer from Amazon.com to arrange what I decided to keep.

One the major organization was out of the way, I was able to focus on the fun part — the decorating!

The item that started off this entire bathroom update was this You Look Great bathmat from World Market. I saw the bathmat on Instagram and did something I never do — I rushed out to buy it the next day. While I was at the store, I also bought a White Rimmed Rectangular Platter.  This is meant to be a kitchen item, but I had been looking for a decorative tray to sit on top of my toilet tank, and this one fit the bill perfectly. I had some old tea light candle holders from the Michael’s dollar bin that I wanted to put in the bathroom, and I thought the platter would be the perfect place to arrange them and a matchbook from an Out of Print matchbook set I bought a while back.

While at HomeGoods I found an anti-skid mat for $3.99. I cut it to the correct size and stuck it under my new bathmat.

Finally, I also purchased some new towels while at HomeGoods. I have a blue ombre shower curtain that has been the primary color focus of my bathroom for a long time. I always keep this color scheme in mind when making purchases for my bathroom, so even though I didn’t set to find new towels, these matched my color scheme perfectly. They were also only $7.99 per towel and $3.99 for the hand towel — I couldn’t pass up a deal that good!Towels.png

Lastly, I printed out a cute piece of bathroom-appropriate art to fill out the room a little more. I used Canva to create and print my own design. I love this website and their app, and I use it for so much stuff for my website — I used it a ton for this post.

It’s still very small and has no fan (hence the small electric clip fan  on the counter), but it feels so much brighter and has so much more character now!

Just to recap, here’s the total bill break down:

I am genuinely proud of myself with this one! This just goes to show that a little organization and resourcefulness goes a long way.
